The Turn of the Screw

Henry James, 1898
Famous for: AMBIGUITY. And some pretty creepy encounters with some pretty creepy ghosts.

Can you trust what you see? Not in The Turn of the Screw, you can’t. And since the characters in Henry James’s novel can’t trust what they see, either, it probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise that one of the motifs in this novel is … vision.
