13. Recap: A Tale of Two Meanings

A Tale of Two Cities

Charles Dickens, 1859
Famous for: A bloody cask of wine, dozens of rolling heads, and TWO of just about everything important.

True confessions: We laughed our way through a lot of A Tale of Two Cities. All that Victorian melodrama, you know? It just gets funny after a while. Then she got to Book 3 and got all reverent about stuff. Start with farce, end with God. What does it all mean, anyway?
