In this modern-day fairy tale, it’s love at first sight for Emily and Sam. Sam, however, has some secrets, not the least of which is his psychotic father, who has made Sam’s life unusual at best, and hellish at worst. Then there’s Riddle, Sam’s enigmatic younger brother. Is there something wrong with him? Is he a product of his strange upbringing? Or is Riddle, like the other two central characters in this story, just in search of one thing: love.
The main theme of this quirky novel may border on the obvious, but it’s hard not to fall for a book whose characters pledge: “Where there is love, / I’ll be there.”
