James Hoff is a teen on a mission. He’s determined to save a planet that’s choking on carbon emissions and out-of-control consumerism. He’s also determined to win back the one person who understands him: His ex-girlfriend Sadie. The problem is, getting Sadie back might be even harder than overthrowing the oil companies. Destroy All Cars chronicles James’s junior year crusades in essays, internet quizzes, and general rants. Which is to say that what this book lacks in plot, it makes up for in a compelling and often hilariously authentic teen voice—the voice of a guy who just wants to make a difference (and to get the girl, too).
