Think that kid in The Sixth Sense is the only one who saw dead people? Henry James’s governess in The Turn of the Screw would have to disagree …

Video Transcription:

I want to tell you my secret now. I see dead people.

Do you see him? He’s there in the tower. He’s there watching. Do you see him stare? Do you?

Now he’s at the window! He’s frightening me! I can see his face pressed up against the window. He’s staring inside. What is he looking for? Do you know? Do you know who he is?

There’s a lady, too. She dresses in black. She waits for me by the lake. She waits for me and the little girl. I think she might want to talk to the little girl … but I won’t let her.

Now he’s inside the house. He’s on the stairs. He’s looking at me again. Oh—the way he looks at me!

And then she’s on the stairs, too. Sitting on the bottom stair. Her head is in her hands. I can see it. It’s in her hands.

No, she’s not on the stair. She’s in the schoolroom. She’s sitting at my desk.

No, she’s not there either. She’s back by the lake! He’s back by the window!

And they’re both ghosts.
